Today we’d like to kick off the school year by introducing you to the new executive editor of The Forum, the student newspaper of UA Little Rock.
Jordan Woodson is a junior from Cabot who is studying Journalism with a minor in Political Science. He’s been involved with The Forum since he started writing there during his freshman year. Last year, he was the paper’s entertainment editor. During his time at The Forum, Jordan has won three awards from the Arkansas College Media Association: first place in Online In-Depth Reporting and Online Election/Political and second place in Online Sports Writing.
Jordan also is involved with the campus chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. During his freshman year, he also interned at the Arkansas Community Health magazine as a writer and photographer.
What do you like most about the UA Little Rock Mass Communication program?
“I love how personal the professors are. They have always been open and helpful with everything. I also like the resources Mass Comm majors have access to, like numerous on campus and off campus internships and the equipment room.”
What subjects are you most passionate about?
“I am really passionate about politics and film. Those are two things I would really like to write about in my future career. As a journalist, I am also really passionate about the First Amendment, due to that basically being the centerpiece of my entire future career.”
Where do you see yourself in five years?
“My dream job would be a film critic, but that is a difficult position to get into, so working at any newspaper or magazine is fine. I would like to write about politics or entertainment at some newspaper or magazine in a big city. Someday in the future I would like to move up to ranks and become an editor.”
